For those who may be new to aesthetic injections, Dr. Chiang will sometimes be asked what the difference is between filler and Botox.
Botox relaxes the muscle making it less strong. We use muscle relaxers, such as Botox, Dysport & Xeomin, in areas where we want our muscles to be weaker resulting in less expression lines/wrinkles.
If we don’t want to frown with our eyebrows, then we would inject Botox into the muscles that causes us to frown. Same if we don’t want to have an aggressive mouth frown.
Filler is different in that it adds volume and support back into your skin to diminish lines or depressions that have formed due to volume loss.
Fillers restore the face or enhance specific features, such as the cheeks, lips, or chin.
Filler is helpful for adding volume and shaping the face while Botox is helpful for reducing movement.
